Welcome to localsupporters.net

Local networks used to be the only way people could trade, almost everything was either local or home grown. More recently we were very happy to buy cheap goods from any corner of the world, regardless of origin or distance.

Now the pendulum is swinging back. Now we prefer food that is fresh and grown locally. We prefer to buy things which have been produced by local artisans, with local materials. We prefer to use a local service or facility and support our local community. We are Local Supporters!

We prefer to buy things we can touch and examine, rather than from a catalogue or on a screen. We enjoy getting out into the community, meeting neighbours and making friends rather than surfing in isolation, then having to wait in for the delivery. We are Local Supporters!

Kirkby Lonsdale
September Country
Fair and Market
Sat/Sun September
6th & 7th 2008

Sadly, this very popular annual event (previously the Victorian Fair) which attracts thousands of people from near and far had to be cut back this year due to the recent dreadful weather.

The localsupporters market (including refreshments) took place in the Institute thanks to the stall holders wish to carry on, although it was not possible to fit everyone in who would have liked to be there.

Saturday: Anne Huntington Art and Craft; Chris Pickering Photography; Jim Needham's wood turning; Joan's Country Keepsakes; Lynn Brown Cards; Marilyn Edwards Author; Morecambe Bay Hampers; SarahM Cakes and Preserves; Savin Hill Farm Shop; Steven Robinson Pen and Ink Drawings; Tracey & Nancy's Original Jewellery; Wennindale Crafts.

Refreshments by Ann & Jim Needham.

Sunday: Aphrodite Jewellery; Chris Fox Wood Turning, Chris Pickering Photography; Gill Stephenson's Cards & Wrap; Joan's Country Keepsakes; Mark Rogers' Fused Glass; Morecambe Bay Hampers; Pendragon Crafts; SarahM Cakes and Preserves; Savin Hill Farm Shop; Tracey & Nancy's Original Jewellery.
