Local networks used to be the only way people could trade, almost everything was either local or home grown. More recently we were very happy to buy cheap goods from any corner of the world, regardless of origin or distance.
Now the pendulum is swinging back. Now we prefer food that is fresh and grown locally. We prefer to buy things which have been produced by local artisans, with local materials. We prefer to use a local service or facility and support our local community. We are Local Supporters!
We prefer to buy things we can touch and examine, rather than from a catalogue or on a screen. We enjoy getting out into the community, meeting neighbours and making friends rather than surfing in isolation, then having to wait in for the delivery. We are Local Supporters!

This very popular annual event (previously the Victorian Fair) attracts thousands of people from near and far. Free street entertainment is laid on all day on both days by the Chamber of Trade including a fun fair, music of all kinds, marching bands, morris dancing and craft demonstrations. This year LocalSupporters.net is organizing the market for the event.
There will be a lovely market on the car park opposite the post office, featuring stalls fom the Kirkby Lonsdale Farmers Market and other local food and craft producers and other interesting local businesses. More stalls will be found in the Institute across the road, where (home made - naturally) refreshments will also be available. Look at our other pages for their details.
In New Road, between the Institute and the Market Square, will be some of your old favourites from past Victorian Fairs who love to come to Kirkby Lonsdale every year for this wonderful weekend and have many regular customers who come to see them every year.

The Localsupporters.net Christmas Market 2007 at the Kirkby Lonsdale Institute was a great success featuring a wonderful selection of local products; top quality, unique, exceptional value, direct from the producers.
